Review

Germany’s ‘Dysangelium’ are a relatively young band, having formed in 2009. Despite this, they have been snapped up by World Terror Committee; home to bands such as Acherontas, Horna and Morte Incandescente.
Their latest demo ‘Leviaxxis’ has been showered with praise, with many reviews comparing them to genre heavyweights ‘Watain’. Is there any truth in this? Of course there is!

The home of Moonblood often impresses when it comes to black metal and this record is no exception. You know where you stand with it; the production isn’t too underdone and the tracks provide a straight-forward but no less vicious aural assault.

There is something for both genre newcomers and BM veterans here.  ‘Dysangelium’s’ sound harkens back to Cacus Luciferi era ‘Watain’ (a well-known gateway band) whilst maintaining the self-made sense of ferocity commonly found in the underground. Sektarist 0’s vocals are shouty and cavernous, they remind me of those of Celestial Bloodshed which is another fair comparison.

From this demo, it seems like ‘Dysangelium’ can only go from strength to strength and surrounded by their talented label-mates, they are in the perfect environment to thrive. Highly recommended!
