An Evening With The Monkees is set to be a magical mix of music and multi-media, including rare films and images from their series. Not only can we expect all of their huge hits but we’ll also be treated to an intimate acoustic set, plus selections from their cult classic, HEAD.

An Evening With The Monkees An Evening With The Monkees

The forthcoming show, on September 4th, will be their first concert since the untimely passing of Davy Jones in Februrary 2012 but there’s no doubt that Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork will do him proud.

These heroes, of a few generations, were first cast in the television roles as a struggling rock band, inspired by The Beatles – A Hard Day’s Night. But The Monkees would make their own mark on the music world and modern day pop culture, that is still felt today.

Assembled in Los Angeles in 1965 by Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider, The Monkees took the world by storm. The quartet, made up of Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork and the late Davy Jones brought a huge mix of pop, rock and country to the table with their music. This great mix of talent saw their first single, Last Train To Clarksville, hit No. 1 in August 1966. It was followed by the release of their TV series and finally backed by their album a month after that. The album stayed at No. 1 for 13 weeks and stayed in the top 200 for a further 65 weeks.

The Monkees’s cult has continued to inspire musicians in the UK and they even cracked out a further 2 top 20 albums, in 1989 and 1997.

We can’t wait to see both Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork back in the limelight and playing the greatest songs that we all know and love. An Evening With The Monkees is set to be a truly magical evening for fans of all ages.
