Review:

German Goth band Weak have finally released their debut full-length album Dark Desires. They previously released a few E.P.s before this and have been around since 1999.

This is a great Goth rock album that has elements of gloom, melodic passages, and an almost hypnotic sound that will have you thinking of both the SISTERS OF MERCY and TYPE O NEGATIVE at times, but not in a bad way. “Wolfmoon” has a great rock sound, mixed with more dark and cutting guitar playing, and makes for a great tart to the album. “Don’t Farewell”has great keyboard playing, and a powerful rhythmic lines that grab you and don’t let go.”Going Nowhere” and “The Devil’s Rose” are both thrilling songs that are dark and a bit gloomy, but fill your ears with amazing sounds. “The Art Is Mine” is a great song that would sound amazing with a remix to pump it up a bit more for the dancefloor. “Hellfire” is a fantastic dark electro/industrial song. “My World” ends things off with a great goth rock song that will get you hitting replay again. “The Safety Dance” is a fun cover of the MEN WITHOUT HATS song and I really liked it.

A great debut that gives the listener some serious, dark songs and a touch of fun that gives you a break from the seriousness of the album. I hope to hear a lot more from these guys in the future.
