“In Magic Words Lance Parkin has crafted a biography that is insightful, scrupulously fair-minded and often very funny, a considerable achievement given its unrelentingly grim, unreasonable and annoying subject. Belongs on the bookshelf of any halfway decent criminal profiler.” (Alan Moore)

Lance Parkin is a British author, mostly known for writing for Doctor Who. He embarked on the journey to pierce the mystery that is Alan Moore. V For Vendetta, From Hell, Watchmen are amongst Moore’s work. The 434 pages describe with a lot of details the life of one of the most mysterious and peculiar comic writers. From Moore’s childhood in the 1960s in Northampton to who he is now, the journey reads very easily, making it hard to close the book. Those in the know will be already familiar with most of what the book contains as Moore only gave a few interviews to Lance Parkin, and the author was forbidden to talk to friends and family.

I am not a big comic fan but I really enjoyed this insight. Definitely one for the summer time.
