Review:

Iodine is a Metalcore band from Leiria, Portugal. Starting in 2006 and releasing 3 EP’s, having all a concept or history behind it, this time “Izabel” goes deeper and seeks to wake up people to the reality we’re living.
Iodine have the right idea. They are pissed off…and so they should be.

The world is in rather a lot of disarray and they are commenting on it. Which is nice.  And a concept album. In 2014? Genius. (Seriously some of the greatest albums ever made were concepts).

Musically reminiscent of the great metalcore bands of the late 90’s early 2000’s with some excellent instrumentals and a powerful sound drive the story across well. They have also put a lot of thought into the sleeve and album artwork which often gets lost in our digital world.

However it does get lost in some inadequate production which is a shame. Would be nice if the vocals were a little clearer and some of the key changes were smoother however as, rather than adding a rawness, it, instead, takes away from what could be a very forceful album. However don’t let that put you off.

This is a band with a lot of potential and I envision them being excellent live. If you like your music angry and to have a little more meaning than Slipknots last self-serving mess then check these guys out.

Top Track – The Seer.
