Alternative pop band Bad Pollyanna released their latest single ‘Invincible Girl’ as the official charity fundraiser single for S.O.P.H.I.E, on August 11th – the seventh anniversary of the day young goth Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were senselessly attacked in a park in Lancashire.
As their oxymoronic name suggests, Bad Pollyanna represents a mix of both beauty and darkness. The band explores and celebrates the duality of love, sex and the human condition through music and art. Bad Pollyanna believe you should be whoever you want to be and are proud to support the Sophie Lancaster Foundation in conjunction with makeup brand Illamasqua.
The band have also released a video for the single, which perfectly encapsulates the haunting, ethereal nature and powerful lyrics of the song.
The single will raise much-needed funds for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, a charity created by Sophie’s mother Sylvia in the wake of her daughter’s tragic death in 2007. The Foundation aims to Stamp Out Prejudice,Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere by raising awareness of prejudice against subcultures though campaigning and educational work. They also to work to have UK Hate Crime extended to include “Alternative Subcultures”.
Sophie’s story is one that is close to the heart of everyone in an alternative or subculture lifestyle.
We at The Independent Voice urge everyone to buy this single (links below) and allow this charity to continue their vital work.
