We arrived at a warm and sunny Trinity Park in Ipswich just before 10am on Sunday morning and the arena was already filled with lots of beautiful Hot Rods, Custom Cars and Classic American Cars.

Before we could start to take a look at the vehicles on display, we made our way to the conference centre at Trinity Park, so Steve was able to set up his display of Model Hot Rods.

After a short catch up with our friends Grant and Jon, who enjoy the hobby of model building like Steve does, we made our way out of the centre, so we could have a look at the cars in the arena.

Besides the huge amount of Hot Rods on display, the visitor was also able to browse through a big selection of clothes, 50’s memorabilia, old style petrol pumps, vintage metal signs, besides the usual car part traders.

A good selection of food and drink stalls offered refreshments in the food court. Other attractions included Bumper Car Rides, “Wall of Death”, live music and much more.

The “Show and Shine” event enjoys a massive popularity and it took us nearly the whole day, to make our way through the arena, while catching up with lots of our friends.

The prize giving for the “Best of Show”, “Best Tot Rod” and “Top 10 Cars for Sunday” began by 4pm, which gave us the perfect chance to see, which cars the judges had voted for this year.

There is another prize giving on Monday, called the “Top 10 Monday Cars” but unfortunately, we were unable to visit it. By 5pm, the doors of the arena closed for the public and it was time to pack up Steve’s models and leave Trinity Park for another year but one thing is for certain, we will be back next year!
