On May 12 2015, Crowquill Records will finally release The Serpent, the Angel, the Adversary, the debut full-length by St. Joseph’s Missouri’s Sisters Of… The band’s debut EP Follow Me As A Ghost was hailed by critics and fans alike, and now the band has taken their music to the next level with an album that will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the best of 2015. Fans of Neurosis, Isis, Pelican and Russian Circles need to pay attention, as this album is what post-metal fans have been waiting for!
The band is a project of musical mastermind Aaron Coker, who is best known for his jaunts as drummer in bands such as the Appleseed Cast and Reggie and the Full Effect. While those projects showcased Aaron’s proficiency in more mainstream music, his new project shows that he is just as deft with heavier music. Once Aaron was joined by Chris Clark, the project became known as Sisters Of…
Crowquill Records founder BJ Dierkes had the following to say about the album:
“Within seconds of listening to their first EP “Follow Me as a Ghost”, I knew that we were going to sign these guys. From the beginning, the entire deal really revolved around putting out *this* record, their first full-length on vinyl. That was in mid-2013, making this the longest running project that we’ve been involved with as a label. I’ve heard every stage of the record from early writing, to scratch tracks with drums, and all the way through mixing and post-production. Aaron and Chris have created a phenomenal record, and we could not be any more ecstatic to be putting it out with them.”-BJ Dierkes Crowquill Records
Praise for Follow Me As A Ghost:
“Huge, chugging Neurosis-esque barrages feature, as do swells of harmonic guitar, à la Mogwai, and acoustic movements, distorting dirges, and pounding percussion build to detonating crescendos throughout.”–Popmatters
“It’s mostly instrumental, definitely metal, and undeniably individual.. the band released an EP called Follow Me as a Ghost back in March 2013, and that shit rules.“-Decibel
“This sometimes instrumental, avant-post-rock outbreak is something that I didn’t see coming. If this album wasn’t handed to me, I might never have found it and I may have missed out on one of the most amazing EPs of 2013”–American Aftermath
Sisters of… is a genre-defying project from St. Joseph, Missouri. Multi-instrumentalist Aaron Coker (ex-Appleseed Cast, Reggie & The Full Effect) was joined by Chris Clark and together Sisters of… was born. Tired of musical limitations, Coker’s idea of blending heavy and atmospheric sounds was realized in a track that evolved into the cornerstone of Sisters of…’s first EP, Follow Me as a Ghost. Layers of post-rock, metal, and experimental elements build evocative soundscapes that expand beyond the conventional themes of life and death.
Impressed by Follow Me as a Ghost, which St. Joseph’s News-Press called “experimental metal at its finest,” Crowquill Records invited Sisters of… to join the label and work jointly toward the actualization of Sisters of…’s first full-length, which will be released in May of 2015
