Multi instrumentalist and highly revered rock guitarist Joe Satriani has released Peregrine Wings from upcoming album Shockwave Supernova, which is also to be followed up with an official tour. The video was uploaded onto Youtube last week and has since had over 40,000 from viewers and fans alike.
The inspiration behind the video came from Joe Satriarni’s involvement in creating an animated TV show Crystal Planet, and it represents his first release since the release of Unstoppable Momentum in 2013.
The New York solo artist began his career mentoring many of the highly esteemed guitarists, from Steve Vai to Kirk Hammet. His music career achieved a widespread commercial successful with 15 Grammy Nominations and over 10 million record sales.
Having also been at the forefront of band’s such as Chickenfoot and Squares, Joe Satriani filled in for Deep Purple’s Ritchie Blackmore during their tour of Japan in 1993.
During this time, Joe Satriani signed up to a multi album contract with Sony. Other notable achievements include a collaboration with Vox to create his tailor made wah, delay pedals as well as customizing a signature series of Marshall amplifier heads, which became known as the JVM410HJS.
His guitar skills have also hit the big screen with ’Crushing Day’ featuring in It Takes Two. Meanwhile ‘One Big Rush’ entered the soundtrack for Cameron Crowe’s ’Say Anything….’The Forgotten Part II’.
Joe Satriani’s active t involvement in the current Rock scene saw him taking an active supporter of Little Kids Rock, an organisation that provides free instruments to schools in America in 2006. Last year he also participated in the week long guitar camp G4 experience alongside other notable figures Paul Gilbert and Andy Timmons.
The Shockwave Supernova Tour announced in February 2015 is nine date series of shows across the UK with the added support of award winning guitarist Dan Patlansky featuring as a special guest at each show.
