It’s only 7 days until hordes of metal fans descend on the sleepy town of Armstrong, British Columbia. For the past 7 years, Armstrong MetalFest has been providing the cream of Canadian metal crop, along with a few outsider wildcards to round the bill out.
Unfortunately, two of these bands have had to cancel: Denver’s Vale Of Pnath and Winnipeg’s Laika have been forced to bow out, the former due to the departure of vocalist Stevie Boiser, and the latter due to scheduling conflicts. Replacing them are Montréal’s Aggression and Nomessiah from The Okanagan.
As a reminder, the festival is a fully-licensed all-ages event, with plenty of activities for people to get stuck into. Aside from the top-notch lineup, there is a full wrestling ring provided by Thrash Wrestling, and a Beer March involving making your own helmet out of beerpacks. The winners get merch donated from the bands, so make sure you have an empty case handy!
Armstrong Metalfest runs from 17th to 18th July. Camping is included in the price. You can pick up tickets here: https://armstrongmetalfest.ca/tickets/
Jesse Valstar and Bretton Melanson, festival founders and organizers, are available for interview both via e-mail and on-site.
