The charity event “Hanworth Classic” came to life in order to boost visitor numbers for the “Hanworth Carnival” back in 2009. The show started with a small number of cars on display, all owned by the organizers of the event.
Over the following years, more and more classic cars, hot rods and military vehicles were added to the event. The final additions came in 2011, when a dance floor was introduced to the show, giving visitors and the Kingston Swing Jive Club the chance, to dance along to classic 1940’s & 1950’s Jive, Swing and Rock’n’Roll.
This year, the weather wasn’t to kind to us but the rain didn’t take anything away from the charm of this great event.
Once we made our first round around the arena, we stopped at the big dance floor to have a look at the large amount of jive and rock’n’roll dancers (incl. visitors) and to enjoy a light refreshment. We then continued our stroll, browsing the raffle stalls and food stalls, which all had a wonderful selection of cake and drinks on offer before making our way home.
The knowledge, that all the money taken from the event is given to charity, makes it the perfect combination of fun and helping others and we are already now looking forward to next years event!
