On December 18th 2015 Twilight Fauna and Jennifer Christensen (Møllehøj) will release a split 7″ via Red River Family Records. While both artists are established in the black metal field, this 7″ showcases two tracks that go beyond their established genres yet share similar emotional content.
About Twilight Fauna and Jennifer Christensen:
Twilight Fauna is a one-person atmospheric metal project from Appalachia. Constantly pushing the boundaries between genres, multi-instrumentalist Paul Ravenwood uses a variety of traditional folk instruments alongside more conventional black metal guitar work and primitive drumming to create a unique blend of blackened folk music. Since forming in 2011, Twilight Fauna has released multiple full lengths, EPs, and splits including the much acclaimed Hymns of a Forgotten Homeland LP. With songs steeped in atmosphere, Twilight Fauna is one man’s deeply personal vision into the history of himself and of the mountains of his birthplace.
Jennifer Christensen is a musician and composer based out of the Pacific Northwest. A vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, Christensen plays the cello, piano, guitar, violin, bass guitar, drums and harp. Best known for her powerful solo project Møllehøj and her work with acclaimed chamber group Disemballerina, Christensen is noted for her unconventional technique and expressive musical compositions.
Combining their talents for this split EP, the duo decided to forgo genre limitations completely and instead chose to base their song pairing around similar emotional content. Deeply moving and at times painfully honest, these are songs that speak of grief and loss. Of sickness. Of sacrifice and of healing.
The split will be coreleased late 2015 on 7” vinyl by Paul Ravenwood’s own Ravenwood Recordings and Red River Family Records. Limited to 300 copies on frosted clear vinyl, the EP will come in a double sided fold over jacket with artwork designed by Jennifer Christensen. The vinyl will be available from Twilight Fauna athttps://twilightfauna.bandcamp.com/, from Red River Family Records at http://redriverfamily.bigcartel.com/ and from Jennifer Christensen at https://jenniferchristensen.bandcamp.com/
The split was mastered by Garry Brents of Cara Neir.
