7 Torrens Street, London, EC1V 1NQ
The word on the street is that Kaos is more something you would find in Berlin than London, but behold, it is definitely happening in good old London.
Lee Adams, artist and DJ, is the creator and driving force behind Kaos. “Kaos started in 2003 at Madame JoJo’s in Soho (on Sunday afternoons) but then moved east (and after dark), where darkroom spaces were not in short supply. As of summer 2013 Kaos was no longer happening at Stunners in Limehouse. In 2014 Kaos’s restless souls shifted more or less permanently to Islington’s popular Electrowerkz , a 19th century former metal works installed with a powerful turbo sound system, just a minute round the corner from Angel tube station.”
The music covers a range of styles from electronica to dark/coldwave, analogue synth to rhythmic noise and of course techno in all its myriad forms, minimal to maximal to industrial.”
Along with Choronzon and Thaddeus, one of confirmed acts is Phase Fatale, the techno project of Berlin-based DJ and producer Hayden Payne from New York. Born out of his various post-punk and cold wave bands in the past, Phase Fatale is an artistic endeavour that serves as an outlet for his own interpretation of the darker, harder and industrial-leaning techno.
The project aims to demolish the border between music and noise to create a new individual vision of techno – the sound of future war, whether it’s captured on vinyl or an extract of the digital static.
The next edition of KAOS London with Phase Fatale on Saturday 20th February.
