Gaerea are a new band formed in Rome in 2016. They recently released their 27 minute long, self-titled EP.
Starting off is the track “Santificato” with slow guitar riffs and drumming with death metal vocals throughout the track. You can easily hear that Gaerea is influenced by bands such as Mgla.
Gaerea was mastered and mixed by John Bart Van Der Wal at Hewwtower Studios in the Netherlands. It was released in November 2016 via Everlasting records.
“Through Time” has you in a state of obliteration with shredding guitars and growled spoken vocals, with some hints of shrieks. Melodic structured riffs in this song set for an atmosphere that truly will take you on a journey ‘through time’.
If you are a fan of bands like Mgla and blackened death metal, then this piece of art is for you. The EP takes inspiration from both black and death metal with cold sounding guitars and a harsh mix of growls and shrieks, giving the listener that feel of anxiety that most music is lacking in this day and age.
Recommended songs are “Final Call”, “Through Time”, and “Void of Numbness”.
