Black Lion Records welcome Swedish melodic death metallers The Duskfall; announce new album “The Everlasting Shadows” for 2018 release

Black Lion Records are pleased to welcome Swedish Melodic Death metallers The Duskfall to the fold, and to announce that the band will be releasing their new album “The Everlasting Shadows” in 2018.

The Duskfall formed in 1999 in Luleå Sweden, when guitarist Mikael Sandorf split from his previous melodic death metal band Gates of Ishtar. Initially, the band were known as Soulash, until becoming The Duskfall in 2001. Despite a few line-up changes, the band recorded and released their first demo entitled “Deliverance” that same year.

In 2002, The Duskfall released their debut album “Frailty”, which was produced by Daniel Bergstrand. 2003 saw their sophomore album, “Source”, let loose upon the metal masses and continued where the band left off on their debut.  Despite further line up changes in the ensuing years, The Duskfall would remain focused on recording their third studio album, “Lifetime Supply of Guilt”, which was unleashed on the world on August 12, 2005 via German major label Nuclear Blast.

2007 saw The Duskfall complete their fourth album “The Dying Wonders of the World”, which saw release on October 26 through Nuclear Blast/Massacre.

In 2008, a statement on the official website dated August 4, confirmed that the band had split-up following the departure of main songwriter and founder Mikael Sandorf.

However, in 2014, Mikael Sandorf announced via social media that the band had reformed and would be recording for the band’s fifth album. The album, titled “Where The Tree Stands Dead”, was produced by Ahti Kortelainen (Sonata Arctica, Moonsorrow, Sentenced). This saw release via Apostasy Records on November 21, 2014 in Germany/Switzerland/Austria, November 24, 2014 in the UK and the rest of Europe and January 13, 2015 in North America.

Later, The Duskfall announced on their Facebook page that Aki Häkkinen, the frontman of Finnish nu-metal band Grinister, would replace Magnus Klavborn on vocals. Additionally, they also announced Jonatan Storm’s departure and the recruitment of Anton Lindbäck on bass.

Flash forward to 2017, the band is currently putting the final touches to their new album “The Everlasting Shadows”, with nine tracks of everything you love about Swedish melodic death metal, set for worldwide release in April, 2018 via Black Lion Records.
