Raimi’s The Evil Dead is a slapstick-horror, fusing ridiculous physical comedy with buckets of gore and severed prosthetics. There a very few films which have managed to re-create this perfect balance through direction, performance, dialogue and design, though Joss Whedon’s recent The Cabin in The Woods (2011) wonderfully updated the concept for the 21st Century.

Tonight, I was at the Prince Charles Cinemin Leicester Square to watch the first screening of Devin Townsend’s latest release, ‘By a Thread’! It’s a delicious compilation of his 4 sell-out gigs in 2011, each showcasing one of the full Devin Townsend Project albums. Despite the pouring rain, the underground picture-house was stuffed to burst.

Less Than Zero is an American drama film based on Bret Easton Ellis’ novel of the same name. Bret Easton Ellis is a very “in your face” kind of writer with his books always revolving around drugs, sex and delirium.
Ellis, published the book in 1985, which was his first published effort, released while he was 21 and still in college.
